The recent construction of Whitecross National School in Julianstown, Co. Meath involved a major extension and refurbishment of the existing primary school to provide a modern, up-to-date facility with 16 mainstream classrooms, a general purpose hall and associated ancillary spaces.

The project, designed by Gilroy McMahon Architects and delivered in phases to allow teaching to continue on site, included partial demolition of older buildings, new single- and two-storey wings, significant site works such as car parking and play areas, and improvements to external infrastructure. Temporary classrooms were also provided during the works so the school could remain operational throughout the construction period.
